I had the day off from work today so I took a nice long walk through Central Park, which I’m lucky to live so close to. Although the sun disappeared behind the clouds just as I was setting off for the park, it was, as always, teeming with activity.
I am in love with short wide crops at the moment. Instagram has put me off square crops anywhere else other than on Instagram. These were taken during an evening stroll from the East Village to the West Village this evening after dinner. They’re a bit noisy but not much can be done about that – one day I will have a fancier model and will be able to shoot on high ISOs with no noise…Perhaps I will treat myself for my birthday in a few months.
So on Saturday I ended up leaving the music fete and then coming back a bit later when it was dark. I am pretty impressed with how the shots came out even on such a high ISO (1600 and 3200) although I did do a bit of noise reduction in Lightroom. Once again I am lamenting the lack of a wide angle – think I will just go buy the Sigma 10-20 I have been wanting to buy for months now.
The fête was really cool – one of the best things about it was how mixed the crowd was. This doesn’t happen that often in SA, or even in Joburg, which is still by miles the most integrated place in the country. And it was so great to be in the streets and to wander from bar to restaurant to shop. They should really organise these more often.
My favourite photo is the one of the bicycle.
