I don’t know whether it was the ridiculously long winter (which still isn’t quite over), iphone laziness, or just a lack of inspiration, but today was the first time in 3 months when I actually felt like taking photos….and had a great deal of fun doing it.
Bryant Park at lunchtime is a people watcher and photographers dream. The business people, the tourists, the students, the hustlers, and the homeless all seem to congregate there during lunchtime – especially on a day as stunning as today. I’m really enjoying using the 50mm f1.8 to shoot in NYC – its a bit tricky in small spaces but the shallow depth of field allows for a focus on the subject, while blurring out some of the clutter and chaos in the background.
There is a great place just a few meters from Bryant Park on 42nd where you can buy really delicious salads (you pick any 6 ingredients and dressing) – its a great break from the bagels.
